Ken was struck by the colours on the walls of this building on a city street. “We would never have seen them unless we were inside, but now that the outsides have been stripped away, secrets are revealed. The slate represents the natural world that underlies what we have built atop it,” Ken says, pointing out that Toronto has been undergoing a lot of construction, and destruction, with buildings torn down but not always replaced.  “I can afford to give a dollar every now and then, but I can't save everyone, and it hurts.”
