Queen of the Street

Sharon, whose own 2-year experience with homelessness motivated her to volunteer in her community, wanted her photo to make a statement. From behind, she captured the image of a woman bundled in boots, coat and hat, overloaded with bags while pushing a trolley down the street. “I wanted to show life in Toronto and the poverty and struggles that people endure. She was just strutting her stuff, not concerned about anybody. That’s what I loved about it, that she was in motion.”
