Toronto Cool

Jelena recalls the wet, grimy day on the Queen Street streetcar when she thought, “Let’s take this picture and see if I can take dirty and ugly and make it Toronto Cool.” She says the photo is a snapshot of her life. “You’ve got to make your way from A to B even though you don’t want to.” At the same time, she knows that hardship can be overcome. “You’ll survive it. It’s a hiccup. Whatever reason you’re in this moment, you’ll make it.”
