When she emerged from the Dundas subway station onto the square in the rain, Nikki knew she had her shot. “I loved how colourful the billboards were and I wanted to capture that. So many things were happening, but the focus is on one man. It was raining hard and he was just trying to get out of the rain. Everyone can relate to that.” Nikki, who grew up in the Bahamas, hopes her photo will make people think about preconceptions. “I’m a young Caribbean female so I know what it’s like to be automatically judged,” she says.
